How to fix a Mercedes Benz CLS320 with loss of power. (Error codes: P2626, P2530, P2527, P2514, P2526, P2376 – Fixed)
Owning a premium car like a Mercedes CLS320 should be one of life’s pleasures. Sporty looking on the outside, a refined interior and smooth German engineering under the bonnet.
However, when your Mercedes engine loses power that pleasure can quickly turn to an inconvenience; it could also be potentially dangerous. Imagine going to overtake, putting your foot down, and…… nothing. No acceleration, just when you need it. This is the type of issue that needs fixing immediately.
When Mrs G experienced this exact problem with her Mercedes-Benz CLS320, she made the right decision to bring her car to our independent Mercedes Galway garage. At Donnellan Auto Services, we eat, sleep and breathe Mercedes, so we knew the steps to take to diagnose and fix the issue, allowing Mrs G to get back on the road quickly and safely. All whilst offering great value and great service.
Issues we found
When Mrs G noticed this problem with her Mercedes-Benz CLS 320, she brought it to our Galway garage and explained that she had already visited two other garages and she was starting to think that she would never get to the bottom of fixing the issue with her Mercedes. Thus, she was now standing in our garage, trying to figure out what was wrong with her beloved Mercedes CLS 320.
As the local independent Mercedes garage, our team at Donnellan Auto Services welcomed Mrs G’s Mercedes and immediately began the 15-step process to diagnose the problem.
Diagnosing the problem
Our Mercedes specialist team began by accessing the supply data of the vehicle which showed the car had several faults.
- P2350 – Inlet port shutoff motor short to ground
- P2376 – Throttle valve actuator – voltage low
- P2514 – Vent line heater short to ground
- P2526 – Charge pressure positioner short to ground
- P2527 – EGR positioner short to ground
- P2626 – Soot Content of DPF too high
Quite a few faults there!
Our technicians knew that to give Mrs G the five-star service that Donnellan Auto Services are known for, we had to use our expertise to identify why these faults were evident and quickly resolve these problems.
After obtaining the fault codes, it was time to figure out why and how the errors occurred.
The art of narrowing down the issue requires high levels of experience and skills and ensuring all necessary tests are conducted to get to the very root of the issue.
Fixing the problem
The first thing we did was check if we could clear some of the faults by checking the fuses. Using the Mercedes wiring diagram, our technicians quickly determined if the failed components were connected to the same fuse. After our technicians changed the fuse, they checked for an update on the fault codes.
Although some of the faults had been resolved, others remained. What we did find was signs of impact to the impeller and oil leaking onto the actuator. We knew that this problem needed further investigation and so we thoroughly checked the turbocharger and determined that the problem required a turbocharger replacement.
We replaced the turbocharger, repaired the swirl flap, and replaced the rod, the swirl flap actuator, and a fuse. With all these parts replaced or repaired, the CLS 320 was within reach of being repaired by our Mercedes specialists.
Rather than replace the Mercedes intake manifold, we chose to fix the swirl flaps and manifold. It saved Mrs G money and time and gave her peace of mind that she chose the right garage by bringing her Mercedes to our expert at Donnellan Auto Services.
The safety of our clients is always our number one priority at Donnellan Auto Services, and we make sure that everything we do is with them and those around them in mind. Our customers are important to us, and we would never repair or replace unnecessary parts. As a result, we provide our clients with outstanding customer service, honesty, and integrity, and we guarantee that they’re never charged for unnecessary work.
